How can hypnosis help you manage stress?

Hypnosis involves inducing in a patient a state of consciousness characterized by indifference to the outside world and a greatly enhanced capacity to receive suggestions. The effectiveness of hypnosis for stress management is still being scientifically explored. Although some studies report effects, their lack of methodological rigor means that no definite conclusions can be drawn.
