Health prevention workshops for young people during sports and leisure activities
The Ramsay Sante Foundation has been supporting the Sport dans la Ville association since 2018. The aim: to get young people in the neighborhoods, through sport, to question health prevention and adopt the codes.
Talking about health prevention during vacation stays
The Foundation is a partner of the Domaine de Chabotte vacation center at Sport dans la Ville, which opened in 2022.
Every summer, one child in four does not go on vacation. In 2020, the health crisis has exacerbated the difficulties faced by children and young people in priority neighborhoods.
To enable the 7,000 young people supported by the association to go on vacation, Sport dans la Ville has launched the complete renovation of the Domaine de Chabotte vacation and training center, located in the heart of the Drôme Provençale region.
The Ramsay Sante Foundation website has co-created and financed preventive health workshops for the young people staying there.
The 4 pedagogical pillars of Chabotte stays
- Open up to others: encourage exchanges between people and discover different cultures;
- Living with nature: discovering a new environment and learning to respect it;
- Move more: become aware of your body and develop the pleasure of moving;
- Eating well: encourage dietary diversity and enjoy discovery and shared experiences.
These fun learning activities enable young people on vacation at Chabotte to discover healthy eating, the benefits of physical activity and how to manage their emotions.
The workshops will be co-constructed with the young people, as part of a social marketing approach, and will involve staff from the nearby Clinique Kennedy and Hôpital privé Drôme Ardèche, two Ramsay Santé Group establishments.
Soccer matches and health prevention
The Sport dans la Ville association and Ramsay Sante Foundation began their collaboration by organizing a meeting in 2018 between around 30 young people and volunteers from the medical team at La Loire Private Hospital.
The event was divided into two parts: preventive health workshops (on nutrition, sleep and STDs), followed by a soccer match between the two "camps". "This free-flowing, fun-filled exchange enabled direct contact to be established, which is invaluable for tackling sensitive issues", comments Pascale Rémy, Partnership Manager at Sport dans la ville. The operation was then extended to Lyon and Lille, in collaboration with Ramsay Santé establishments in these cities.
