Get healthcare professionals more involved in identifying and preventing the risks of caregiver burnout. This is the aim of the association's "Prévention Proche Aidant" program Avec Nos Proches.
There are 11 million caregivers in France today. As the population ages, this figure is set to rise. These caregivers play a key role in supporting frail people. They can be true therapeutic allies. However, the situation of caregiving can have significant negative consequences on physical and mental health, as well as on professional, personal and financial life.
Ramsay Sante Foundation has decided to support Avec Nos Proches in developing this program for healthcare professionals, as close as possible to the local area.
"Prévention Proche Aidant" is :
- Informing and equipping healthcare professionals to identify and refer family caregivers to appropriate services
- Facilitating interaction between healthcare professionals and family caregivers
- Improving healthcare professionals' practices with regard to family caregivers
- Facilitating patient care by providing appropriate support for caregivers at the same time
- Preventing the risk of caregiver burnout
- Take care of caregivers as early as possible to prevent situations that put them and their loved ones at risk.
- Give caregivers the opportunity to continue supporting their loved ones in the best possible conditions, while respecting the assistance they wish to provide.
By accompanying the patient, the healthcare professional is in a privileged position to help identify, raise awareness and provide guidance to family caregivers.
Avec Nos Proches meets with professionals to :
- Organize practice-sharing groups on caring for caregivers
- Offer ongoing training courses in caregiver support in their local areas, tailored to their specialties. We plan to set up in a new département each year.
Created in 2008 in a spirit of openness, disinterestedness, respect and responsibility, the Avec Nos Proches association aims to :
- Breaking the isolation and loneliness of family caregivers by offering them a free forum open to all through a telephone listening service;
- Supporting, informing and guiding caregivers in a spirit of valuing existing local support systems;
- Raise awareness of caregiver issues - particularly among the general public, professionals in the healthcare, medical-social and social sectors, companies, public authorities and elected representatives.
What makesAvec Nos Proches so special is that it connects caregivers with volunteers who have helped a loved one in need.
