What does it mean to eat a balanced diet?

Eating habits

Eating a balanced diet means eating a variety of foods in the right quantities. Certain food groups, such as fruit, vegetables, starchy foods (especially wholegrain) and meat and fish in adequate quantities, are to be favored, while others, such as fatty, salty or sweet foods, are to be limited. Water, which should be consumed as much as you like, is also part of a balanced diet. A balanced diet is built up over the course of a day: don't worry if you don't eat a "balanced" diet at every meal.
