Why can't I sleep (even when I'm tired)?

Sleep disorders

When you can't sleep, it means that your internal clock, based on a sleep-wake rhythm, has been disrupted. In most cases, it's stress that's responsible for poor sleep. If the difficulty in falling asleep persists, there may be multiple causes, such as a mental or psychological disorder (depression, for example) or a chronic illness. The symptoms of insomnia (difficulty falling asleep, waking up at night, waking up early) can be combined and evolve over time. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor.
