Sedentary lifestyle
General

A sedentary lifestyle (or lack of physical activity) is known to promote certain so-called "non-communicable diseases" (type 2 diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, colon cancer). According to the World Health Organization, it is the fourth leading risk factor for non-transmissible diseases. Physical activity helps to prevent and is also recommended in the management of certain non-communicable diseases. What's more, people with insufficient physical activity have a 20% to 30% higher risk of death than those who are sufficiently active. It's important to get moving: take regular breaks at work, and walk or cycle for your daily commute.
