Is physical activity good for mental health?

Sedentary lifestyle
General

The immediate benefits of physical activity have been demonstrated in people with high levels of anxiety. These effects can be prolonged if the sports program is regular and followed over a long period. Biologically, this is due to the effects of endorphins, which counteract the effects of stress hormones and improve physical fitness, which is closely linked to mental health. Psychological factors also explain the beneficial effect of physical activity, notably through the personal satisfaction of accomplishment and the social bonds engendered by the practice of sport.
