What are the links between ecology and our mental health?
It seems that the environmental crisis is having a gradual impact on the mental health of today's society.
In fact, climate change affects a whole range of factors linked to our health: clean air, drinking water, sufficient food, housing security, all of which contribute to making living conditions more difficult.1 In addition, all the natural disasters observed around the world and in France (fires, heat waves, earthquakes, floods) contribute to a feeling of anxiety that impacts on people's mental health.
What's more, climate change could considerably amplify human conflicts, with a notable impact on our mental health. One study has linked temperature variations to an increase in violence, both towards others and towards oneself through suicidal acts.2
