What are starchy foods and what do they do?
The starch family includes bakery products (bread, rusks, etc.), cereals (wheat, oats, rice, etc.) and legumes (lentils, beans, chickpeas, etc.). They provide "complex carbohydrates", which supply energy that the body is able to use progressively and over a long period of time. Starchy foods don't make you fat, but they provide the energy your body needs to keep you going until your next meal. It is therefore advisable to eat them at every meal, according to your appetite.
