What's the link between stress and poor nutrition?
Stress is a biological response that occurs when we are "under pressure", i.e. when we perceive an imbalance between what is demanded of us and the resources we have available to meet those demands. So during these periods, we may be prone to behaviors to manage this emotion, such as compulsive drinking or snacking, which can ultimately make the stress worse. They promote fatigue and adverse effects on the body due to overconsumption of sugars, saturated fats and insufficient intake of fiber, minerals and vitamins. On the other hand, a healthy diet (fruits, vegetables, legumes) will help to combat stress, thanks in particular to their vitamin and mineral content. Sport is also a good combination with a healthy, balanced diet, but it's important to enjoy yourself too!
