Why is obesity increasingly widespread? Why is there no real cure?
Obesity is on the rise worldwide, with the number of cases doubling since the 1980s. In France, 17% of adults and 4% of children are now obese. The omnipresence of energy-rich foods at attractive prices, increasing portion sizes, sedentary lifestyles, etc. are just some of the reasons for the rise in obesity. Obesity is preventable, but once it has set in, it becomes a chronic disease, with disturbances in the mechanisms controlling food intake and a latent state of generalized inflammation. That's why prevention is so important.
