Why does menopause make you fat?
Studies tend to show that weight gain in women is regular throughout adulthood. However, this does not correspond to the experience reported by women, who associate their weight gain with events in their gynaecological life: pregnancy, menopause, etc. The re-distribution of fat around the abdomen after menopause could contribute to the impression of weight gain. In all cases, good eating habits and physical activity can help combat the loss of muscle mass and reduced energy requirements associated with menopause and advancing age.
