Does sport help you lose weight without changing your eating habits?
With unchanged eating habits, taking up sport will help you build muscle mass and increase your energy expenditure. The body will be toned, and any imbalance between food intake and energy expenditure will be corrected. However, physical activity, whether on its own or as part of a diet, does not necessarily lead to weight loss: in fact, athletes who are all muscle are generally very heavy on the scales. When dieting, sport becomes essential to maintain muscle mass (which tends to melt away) or avoid the weight regain often observed after dieting.
