Why is it hard to quit smoking?

Complexity

For most people, it's not easy to give up smoking because of their acquired dependency on tobacco. Scientists believe that tobacco may have one of the highest addictive potentials of any psychoactive substance (alcohol, cocaine, etc.). In addition to this, smokers are often apprehensive about quitting, fearing, for example, that they will no longer be able to manage stress without tobacco, but also the context in which they find themselves (a circle of smokers, parties, etc.). However, we are not all equal when it comes to addiction, and quitting smoking will be easier for some than for others. What's more, there are many ways of helping yourself or getting help: patches, professional support, support guides, etc.
