Does overconsumption of screens encourage depression?
It has been shown that overconsumption of screens (responsible for social isolation, addictive behaviors such as loss of control, discomfort when disconnected), to the detriment of other activities that promote psychological, physical and emotional development, is associated with an increased risk of anxiety and depressive disorders, partly because of the social isolation it entails. According to a study by Public Health England, children who spend too much time on screens are more anxious and depressed than others. In adults, over-consumption of screens makes it difficult for the over-solicited brain to focus on a particular dimension. This threatens the individual's mental health and exposes him or her to depressive disorders.
