How do screens affect sleep?
Exposure to the blue light of screens reduces the secretion of melatonin, the sleep hormone that facilitates sleep. Exposure to this blue light before bedtime will therefore slow down the process of falling asleep. In addition, light stimulates activity and wakefulness, leading to a later onset of sleep. Finally, certain violent content such as video games or TV programs can generate tension and anxiety, making it difficult to fall asleep.
