Can I get sick from pesticides in food?
Pesticides, like all chemical substances, are potentially hazardous to health. However, the WHO points out that the question of dose is crucial in this debate. In other words, the effect of a substance is directly linked to the quantity absorbed. Food companies are subject to strict controls by national authorities to ensure that the quantity of pesticides contained in foodstuffs is below the minimum dose considered pathogenic. The probability of becoming ill from pesticides in food is therefore virtually non-existent. Beyond the dose effect of a particular product, it is also important to observe the cumulative effect of different products.
