Why eat slowly to lose weight?

Skipping a meal / Finishing your plate

Eating slowly can help you lose weight. Our brain needs time to receive signals from the stomach that we are eating. It is said that it takes around 20 minutes for the brain to let us know that we have eaten enough. Eating slowly therefore allows you to be aware of your state of satiety and to stop eating at the right moment. Eating slowly also has other beneficial effects. By chewing food properly, you "pre-digest" it, which will improve your digestion. Taking your time will also help you to be more aware of what you eat, and make better choices for your health.
