Our excessive consumption of meat can have an impact on our health and the environment. Red meat provides us with many nutrients (vitamins, proteins, minerals), but eating too much of it is associated with increased risks of cancer. Livestock farming is implicated in soil and water pollution, greenhouse gas emissions... A "flexitarian" diet, limiting meat consumption without totally excluding it, is increasingly recommended. The recommended animal protein/vegetable protein balance is 50%-50%, and we are currently at 65-35%.
