AIDS/HIV

AIDS is the late stage of HIV infection. To check whether you've been infected, you need to undergo a screening test at least 3 weeks after high-risk sexual intercourse for rapid tests (TROD). For conventional tests, you need to wait 6 weeks. In special cases, it is also possible to test for viral RNA 10 to 12 days after contamination. Testing can be carried out in laboratories, CIDDISTs or CDAGs. The list is available on the Sida Info Service website. Self-tests are also available for home use, but it is advisable to wait 12 weeks.
