Why does puberty make you fat?
Weight gain at puberty is primarily physiological: it's linked to the adolescent growth spurt at this time. Around 50% of adult weight is gained during puberty, and annual weight gain reaches + 9 kg/year at its peak. However, certain factors can lead to excessive weight gain during puberty: physical activity decreases at this age, particularly in adolescent girls. Adolescence can also be a time of unstructured eating habits (snacking, preference for fatty and sugary foods, etc.).
