Is weight gain inevitable when you stop smoking?
Weight gain is not systematic when you stop smoking. It is estimated that a third of people do not gain weight when they stop smoking. In the case of people not taking medication such as nicotine substitutes (known to help limit weight gain), one study showed that 50% had gained more than 5 kg one year after quitting, while 15% had lost weight.
