Can I use an e-cigarette when I'm pregnant?
The health effects of e-cigarettes are still poorly understood. However, a growing number of studies show a high level of toxicity of nicotine on the development of fetuses, children and teenage brains. The WHO describes E-cigarettes as "particularly dangerous" and as "potentially harmful to foetal growth" for pregnant women who use them. As smoking cessation is a priority during pregnancy, it is preferable to turn to nicotine substitutes (patches, sucking tablets or chewing gums), which are authorized under medical supervision for pregnant and breast-feeding women, and are reimbursed by social security up to €150 per year on medical prescription.
