Is an e-cigarette advisable when you want to stop smoking?
Electronic cigarettes can help you reduce your tobacco consumption. In France, smokers who adopt electronic cigarettes reduce their tobacco consumption: on average, they report consuming 9 fewer cigarettes a day (some more, some less, depending on their initial level of consumption). In so doing, they reduce their exposure to the toxic substances found in tobacco. Although reduced, the risks associated with smoking remain present until complete cessation, which is the ultimate goal. What's more, although the risks associated with e-cigarettes are lower than those of tobacco, they are not devoid of health effects. It should therefore be seen as a temporary aid to smoking cessation, not as an alternative to tobacco.
