Weight gain

If you're worried about putting on weight when you stop smoking, there are several measures you can take to help you manage your weight. First of all, nicotine substitutes such as patches have been shown to reduce weight gain when you stop smoking. A few dietary guidelines will also help you to structure your diet and limit temptations: take regular meals, without skipping meals to avoid snacking; take time to eat so you feel full; organize your menus in advance; plan satiating, low-calorie snacks rich in essential nutrients (fruit, dairy products, nuts, etc.). Last but not least, physical activity will help you burn calories and thus rebalance your energy balance, while helping you combat the stress associated with quitting smoking.
