Vacation center Sport dans la Ville

Inauguration of the vacation center and training of Sport dans la Ville

350 young people will take part in one of our learning vacations this summer 2022.

Every summer, one child in four doesn't go on vacation. The health crisis has since exacerbated the difficulties faced by young people and families in priority neighborhoods.

If you don't go on vacation, you're deprived of moments that recharge your batteries, open your eyes to other possibilities, awaken you to nature and enable you to meet new people, changing the course of your life. These moments, which give strength and inspire desire, are essential to the personal and educational development of every young person. It is for this reason that Sport dans la Ville has decided to open a unique venue to welcome the 8,500 young people supported by the Association.

Inauguration Chabotte

After a year's work, Sport dans la Ville inaugurated its 1st vacation and training center on Friday June 24, 2022, in the presence of Madame Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, French Minister for Sport and the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

This project was made possible thanks to a 30-year agreement signed with the City of Rillieux-la-Pape (owner of the site). Thanks to the support of its private and public partners, of which Ramsay Sante Foundation is proud to be a part, Sport dans la Ville has completely rehabilitated this unique site.

This exceptional place to live and learn will enable young people to discover nature and learn about the benefits of healthy eating (creation of a permaculture garden).

A qualitative study carried out by an external consultancy in 2021 (financed by Ramsay Sante Foundation) has enabled us to transform the pedagogical project into a specific animation scheme, based on behavioral changes: experiential learning and group dynamics.

The vacation stays are built around 4 pedagogical pillars:

  • Open up to others : Encourage exchanges between people and discover different cultures.
  • Living with nature Discover a new environment and learn to respect it.
  • Bouger plus Develop body awareness and the pleasure of movement.
  • Eating well Eating well: Encourage dietary diversity and enjoy discovery and shared experiences.
